Building Character Through Sports...

Making tough choices... Growing up in South Texas in the early 80's I had plenty of opportunities to make bad choices. And like any kid, sometimes I did. Afterall, I was growing up in an area of the United States where more than 80% of drugs come into the country. Around every corner was the temptation to run with the wrong crowd, make a bad choice, or ignore the teachings of my church.

However, there was always one thing that kept me going...something that kept me from making the really bad choices that so many of my peers were making. What was the secret that helped me to avoid the temptation of a lot of bad choices? It is simple really...it was the impact of sports and the deep influence that the Fellowship of Christian Athletes had on me.

In response to early successes on the ball field, I made athletic excellence my goal and committed myself to the cause. I realized that through the powerful medium of sports I could learn the principles of success. Through sports I learned core values that have stayed with me to this very day. Values such as caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility. Without the influence of my coaches, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and others in my life I very easily could have become just another statistic.

At NFC Sports, we believe we can use the powerful medium of sports to positively impact the lives of our athletes. It is my desire, my goal, and my passion to see the lives of countless kids and adults positively impacted and changed for the better as they learn the lessons that sports can bring to them.

Whether you are age four or age eighty-four, at NFC Sports we believe that we have a place for you to come and enjoy the amazing impact that sports and athletics can have on your life. We strive to make our facility relevant for people of all ages, backgrounds, and income levels. We do this because we know that sports is the great equalizer...no matter where you come from, no matter who you are...on the field or on the court we all have an equal chance to excel. I hope you will consider this your invitation to join with us at NFC Sports and help us create an atmosphere of excellence and fun, where kids and adults can enjoy athletics and benefit from all the lessons it can teach.

Sincerely,
